Disclaimer: This work was produced as part of a Master's dissertation. It tackles an important and under-explored topic – the role of fake news in the African context, and more specifically, how it may cause physical harm. I  received feedback that the causal relationships could have been explored in more depth so as to avoid the appearance of sometimes assuming them. Moreover, there was over-generalisation in places.
